Wright & Brown received the first distillery license in Oakland since Prohibition. They could have coasted on that story but decided to make some incredible whiskey instead. They make their bourbon in full-sized barrels on the west side of Oakland. While waiting for the bourbon to mature, they released a rye and rum, both enjoyable in their own rights, but this surpassed both of those bottles. Clove, caramel, and light oak notes with a perfectly weighted mouthfeel. Not sweet or malty but just enough to support those bright, intense flavors.
