Plantation Special Dry Xaymaca Rum
Long Pond and Clarendon (Monymusk) distilleries, Jamaican
This is a blend of three rums from Jamaica, all hogo rich, with no caramel coloring (aka sugar) added. After aging for different lengths in Jamaica, Plantation does what it typically does and ages them a little longer in ex-Cognac barrels in France. Somewhere in all this mix, a round but flavorful rum emerges. This has hallmarks of Jamaican rum, but with more flambeed pineapple, ginger, and cinnamon than banana and overripe mango. Drinkable on its own and works well as an introduction to Jamaican rums.
