Pierre Riffault, known for his exemplary old vine Sancerre, has taken it one step further here and thrown it into new French oak barrels after spending two months on the lees. Typical Sancerre notes of pear, minerality, and tropical fruit are all still present but accompanied by richer, deeper honeysuckle and candied apricot. Hint of tannins and green herbs are present too, really hanging around and calling out for another bite of rosemary chicken. Only seven barrels made and hardly any of that not drunk by now.
