Jean Fournier Marsannay 'Clos du Roy' Rouge 2018
Harvested by hand from organic vineyards dating back 40, 50, and 70 years. 2018 Marsannay Clos du Roy has a perfumed bouquet of blackberry and raspberry fruit infused with blood orange and tangerine, playful and quite forward in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Fresh from the start, with good grip and detail on the finish.
Fermentation 60% destemmed / cold soak for 6 days / temperature controlled fermentation around 20 days with punchdowns and remontage / light pressing at dryness and gravity fed into barrels Malolactic spontaneous malolactic fermentation Maturation 12 months in both demi-muids and 500L barrels 40% of which is new / an additional 6 months in demi-muids / bottled unfiltered Sulfur 45mg total after malolactic fermentation
