Finca 18 Still Strength Blue Weber Agave Spirit

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (only distillery in operation in PV)

53.5% ABV

 

Not a raicilla, not a tequila.  Then what is it?  Stylistically, the great grandfather of modern day tequila.  Made from Blue Weber like tequila, but roasted in an earthen pit and wild fermented like mezcal.  Best of both worlds!  And then finished at 107pf!

 

Finca 18 is a return to what tequila was always meant to be: artisanal, pure, and full of life.

 

The cooked agave comes through but with lots of salinity and lemon zest.  Unique but not unfamiliar flavors.  A real treat.
