Domaine Bio Coste Coteaux du Giennois MC2 2020
Mathieu Coste previously worked in Burgundy, making wine for others before he decided to create his own domaine in 2008. Côteaux du Giennois – this being the extreme eastern part of Loire, as close to Burgundy as you can get in this long stretched wine region, was best suited for the style of wines he wanted to make.
He’s always been into organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking and has today 5,5 hectares where 4,7 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir and Gamay, the rest is Sauvignon Blanc. He makes wine in a way that’s rarely seen these days, red wines with structure and backbone that are aged for a long time until they are mature. Wines that make you think of history.
MC2 is fresh and vibrant. Bright red and purple fruits with lingering minerality and a touch of tannins.
