From vines that have been there since the 1880's and in the heart of classic zin land of Sonoma. In the 1980's, Bucklin was selling their grapes to Ravenswood, helping put Joel Peterson - the godfather of zin - and his winery on the map. With the torch passed down to son Will Bucklin as head winemaker.
60% Zinfandel,15% Grenache, 10% Alicante Bouschet, 5% Petite Sirah and 10% “other” (20+ other varieties, in fact) from a twelve-acre block of vines that were planted in 1885. The vineyard is a mosaic of over two dozen grape varieties; the grapes are fermented together. Fermented with native yeast and aged 22 months in French oak, 40% of which is new. Bottled unfiltered.
